Karma Today

Along with the frustration and anger, some are feeling these days, comes the notion of “Karma” . . . i.e., other-directed, it is an oft-vengeful sense that ‘he’ or ‘she’ or ‘they’ will rightfully suffer down the road for their actions today.

Not only is that mistaken, there’s a whole lot more to Karma than this.

Simply put, the unfolding of Karma means that we are continually experiencing what it is we need for our hearts and minds to open to their intrinsic beauty.

To the degree that in the past we were unaware of this, we tended to react to everyday occurrences in ways that were self-centered, yielding notions of fear, anger, jealousy, dismay, depression, inferiority, hatred, etc.

But then along the way, some come to see that within each moment we are being provided with the ‘triggers’ – some pleasant, others not – we need to open further.

This is true of all that is happening today . . . awareness of this and mindful reaction to it is the mechanism of Karma.

~One need not be “Buddhist” to see this, and neither grief or a broken heart, or fear, precludes us from doing so.
