The Bondage of Indifference

49There is a tendency in each of us to put up with things, to get used to them, or blame them on circumstances.

“Ah, if things were right I’d be different.”
“Give me the opportunity, I will fulfill myself.”
“I am frustrated by the unfairness of it all.”

Getting used to disturbances is a sign that our mind is becoming dull.
Indifference manifests, and in bondage we become hard and callous.

Even when we are aware this is happening we become lazy, inattentively ignoring it and/or looking for distractions to take our mind to another place.

Reflect on the preciousness of each moment of your life.
Reflect on the always-arising opportunities to make a difference in your life and the lives of others.

Sleep well in your bed, but be awake at all other times.
Awake means aware . . . watching, listening and mindful of your path and how you are responding to what is happening around you.

Do this.
It takes practice to learn how to respond, rather than react.

Do it.
You’ll feel your bonds slip away as you simply pay attention.

Neither grief or a broken heart, or fear, precludes you from doing this.
