The Everlasting Law

While a fundamental – and undeniably practical –  notion of Buddhist thought, sometimes we forget . . .

Blossoms bloom due to a series of conditions that bring about its blooming. Leaves dry and fall from due to conditions that cause them to do so.

Blossoms do not bloom unconditioned; a leaf does not fall for no reason.

And so everything has its arising and passing away,  nothing remains unchanged.

It is the everlasting and unchanging natural law:   Everything comes about due to a series of causes and conditions;  everything disappears by the same law.

Within this ongoing process, nothing remains unchanged for even a simple second.

Rejoice! It is within change that all opportunities abide.
